Developing an Exhibition Experience
For Augmented Spaces this week I designed and developed an exhibit using ARKit on iOS. My initial concept was to use image anchors to make an imagined space visible that extends the world of a photograph.
While doing image and 3D model research I came across an amazing resource of public domain artifacts through the Smithsonian Museum. Browsing their “3D Voyager” inspired me to focus on artifacts from The Museum of African American History and Culture. My idea was to pair portraits of public figures with photos and 3D scans of objects significant to their lives. For my initial demo I selected Madam C.J. Walker, Charlie Parker, and Seba Johnson.
I started with some sample code from class to ensure that the portraits I had selected tracked well with ARKit on my iPhone.
From there I built out the experience. Screen captures below.
