Francis Cashore Brandon
9/?/1835 - 1920 to1930
Relation to Vincent > (1)Living Brandon > (2) Edward Clark > (3) Gustavus Barton > (4) John Clark's brother - 2nd great grand uncle
Francis came over with John Clark on 12/07/1849 on the Abeona out of Liverpool, England. I don't know why they didn't come over with the rest of the the family.
Almost all the information that follows is supposition. I only have a birth date for Francis from the Gerard bible. Francis, nor John Clark, came over with their father, Gerard. After finding a Francis Brandon in the 1860 U.S. Census of Albany, NY, I have inferred that this is where he settled in the U.S. As of June 13, 1860, he is the right age to have been born in September of 1835, as per the Gerard bible. He as listed as a picture frame maker, which was John Clark Brandon's profession. His son is named James, as was Francis' brother. His country of birth is Ireland.
In the 1870 Census of Albany, NY, Francis and his wife magically get younger. The children are listed at the correct age and the neighbor is still the same, so I am fairly confident that this is the same Francis as shown in the 1860 census.
The 1880 census shows an additional child, but Mary who should be 11 years old is missing.
In the 1900 census, which I believe validates my hunch, there is now a new James Brandon who is the correct age and has the same month of birth to be Francis' brother.
In 1910, Francis is listed as a widower. I also assumed his death between 1920 and 1930, since he does not appear on any further censuses.
